The group is an independent association founded in 2001 whose aim is to conserve, promote and celebrate traditional orchards in the county of Gloucestershire in the west of England. The Trust, registered with the Charity Commission, was founded in September 1997 by a group of parishioners who wished to preserve the old Dominican Chapel at Hartpury, which was in state of very poor repair at the time. This original catalyst led to the formation of the current organisation, whose objective is:
“To advance the education of the public by the conservation protection and improvement of any part of the physical and natural environment in and around the parish of Hartpury which is of historical significance.”
-
Founded as a registered charity in 1978 to combine the talents of botanists, horticulturalists and conservationists, the NCCPG’s aims are to:
- Encourage the propagation and conservation of endangered garden plants in the British Isles, both species and cultivars;
- Encourage and conduct research into cultivated plants, their origins, their historical and cultural importance and their environments;
- Encourage the education of the public in garden plant conservation.
The Association was founded in 1993 by a group of practical cider makers who came together at the cider and perry trials run by the at Putley in Herefordshire. Their intention was to improve the image and quality of farmhouse cider and perry. The aims of the Association are:
- To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, updating of information and knowledge and the discussion of matters relating to cider/perry, the Cider Industry in general and that within the Three Counties in particular.
- To encourage the sustainable production and sale of quality cider & perry that meets consumer requirements for safety, freedom from spoilage, transparency and traceability.
- To lobby regulatory and legislative bodies, and others as appropriate, in the furtherance of member’s interests.
- To promote co-operation between members and with other associations and organisations in which there are mutual interests and benefits.
